My AOC G2460PF Review

The gaming monitor market is slowly but surely gaining ground not only in the professional arena but also in the household sector, as more and more home-based gamers and casual gamers are investing in gaming monitors more so now than in the past few years. Most gamers would love to have this as one of their essentials, but the high price is a major hindrance to this. AOC is introducing a perfect solution for gamers in this predicament-their newest gaming monitor in the market today, the AOC G2460PF.

This monitor is manufactured by a well-known monitor manufacturer which has established a reputation as one of the most reliable monitors in the market for a very long time now. They have also been continually upgrading and updating their products to keep up with the demands of the times.

The G2460PF monitor is a 24-inch monitor which comes equipped with AMD’s Freesync technology to give users a much needed boost in terms of gaming performance. It has an impressive refresh rate of 144Hz, which is at par with the best monitors around, as well as response time of 1ms, which is also at the level of elite monitors.

It comes with 1920 x 1080 native resolution, which is also quite good, in fact it’s full HD quality at this point. The Twisted Nematic (TN) Panel comes in a standard 16:9 ratio, which is excellent for gaming as well as other uses. It also boast of an excellent contrast ratio at 1000:1, which is good for most gaming monitors available at the moment.

The 350 nits brightness is also quite nice for a budget monitor, considering this value is above the average for this class of display. It also has 2 pieces of 2watt speakers built into the chassis of the monitor. The stand is very versatile as it can be adjusted in height by at least 5 inches higher or lower, as well as it can be tilted 5 degrees forward and 22 degrees backward.

I actually bought the monitor after reading this review, and decided to contribute my own!

It also comes equipped with some standard input connectivity such as D-Sub (analog) input, DVI and HDMI (digital) inputs, one DisplayPort and 4 USB 2.0 ports.

It has a matte black finish which mimics the finish of a brushed aluminium surface, which is quite rare in gaming monitors, as this design is usually reserved for high end television and other high-fi audio systems. It has a thin bezel all around, although the bottom bezel is slightly wider but not by much.

The speakers are not worth mentioning as the quality is not that good, although most serious gamers would invest in a good set of speakers to make their gaming more immersive, or even just settle for a good quality headset.

Under the bottom right hand corner of the monitor are four buttons used to adjust the monitor settings. These buttons are located beside the power button of the monitor. Although the default settings are adequate for most users, the option is still there should you wish to fine tune your settings accrding to your taste.

At $209, this is a great bargain, with all the fantastic features included. This truly is the best budget monitor you can get without sacrificing too much in terms of display quality and performance. You should strongly consider this next time you go out shopping for a new monitor.
